Method

Step 1
Season the beef mince (500 g) with salt, pepper, half the crushed garlic (4 cloves) and the oregano (10 g) in a bowl. Roll into balls.
Step 2
Heat 2 tsp olive oil in a frying pan over a medium heat and fry the rest of the garlic, the onion (1) , the celery (2 stalks) and the carrot (1) until softened. Add to the slow cooker.
Step 3
Brown the meatballs in the pan, then add to the slow cooker along with the chopped tomatoes (1 tin) , 400ml water and some salt and pepper. Cook on low for 5 hours.
Step 4
Serve the meatballs topped with cheddar (to taste) and basil (to taste) , along with your choice of pasta, pitta bread (to taste) or jacket potato and salad (to taste) .
